Filters
Depending on the type of air filters in your air conditioning equipment. It would normally mean removing the filters and cleaning them by vacuuming or if necessary by washing them. Some air filters are of the deposable type and would require removing and replacing with new. This would be classed as a filter clean service. Filter cleaning should be carried out monthly, filter replacing up to 12 times a year, depending on your location and the type of air filters you have, normally four to six times a year. Condensate Drainage and Pumps.
The checking of the condensation drainage involves checking and cleaning the drip tray thus removing the 'smelly socks', testing the drains and cleaning them, ensuring the outlet of the drain where accessible is not blocked, and clean of smelly residues. Indoor Units
The indoor unit service would be to clean the coil, filters, drip tray and ensure the drain or condensation pumps work correctly and are flushed with cleaning solution. Then the unit is checked to ensure that it works properly, and then reassembled, and the casing is cleaned. Not all units are dismantled to carry out a service as it isn't necessary, or possible. Outdoor Units
A service on this unit can be done without checking the indoor unit or filters as well. Normally the service would involve checking all of the system equipment. To start with the indoor unit is checked as above and then during the testing stage the condenser would be checked to make sure its components were working correctly. The condenser coil and casing would be cleaned, the electrical connections checked and insulation on the pipes as these sometimes get damaged by birds or persons stepping on them. The testing of the pipe temperatures, the air on and off temperatures of the indoor and outdoor coils to ensure they are correct for the application, the amp readings to indicate if there is a potential problem with the compressor or outdoor fan.
